In 2018, I led a group Kind Consumer Challenge - and I’ve gathered the resources here so you can go through them at your own pace! Use this worksheet to help you reach your goals.
You're here because you are a kind person who wants to infuse a bit more of that kindness into their everyday - in particular, through consumer habits such as what you buy, how you care for your things, how you dispose of things, your relationship with your stuff and money, and even how you invest. All of this has so much potential to change the world, but can be overwhelming...if we go alone, or if we try to do too much at once. The solution? Community, and thoughtful preparation to set up for success.
The beauty of this challenge is that it isn't a one-size-fits-all approach. You might take on 20 new habits from each category. Or you might just dip your toe into one. Either way, I'm here to help - not because I've got it all figured out, but because - like you - I'm curious about how I can improve, and looking for manageable ways to make it happen. And I decided that instead of trudging through this journey on my own, I'd gather some friends to journey together.
Who: Kind people who seek to grow in their positive impact on the world through a healthier relationship with, and more intentional stewardship of, their money, possessions, and daily habits. If you feel overwhelmed or that you have a long way to go, you're in good company!
What: A series of personalized challenges related to topics such as reducing plastic or paper use; ethical fashion, food, and investing; or green cleaning.
How we'll succeed: through community and smart preparation! Join my Insiders group on Facebook, which is a non-judgmental place to share resources, ideas, frustrations, and encouragement, because everything is more fun with friends. And, you can follow the structure we used during the 2018 group challenge: take one topic per month, and spend an entire week at the start of each month to prepare before diving into our topic. Take careful steps to research (to light a fire in your belly and help solidify your "why"), define (to determine individually which challenges you will tackle this month), and equip (to do any purchasing or research you need to be ready).
