It's that time of year that many of us are thinking of Mother's Day gifts. If you're ready for a change from flowers or just browsing a store for something that catches your eye, take a look at some gift ideas that connect the moms in your life to impact around the globe.

Check out my latest video where I walk through these, and be sure to subscribe so you don’t miss any videos!

Noonday Collection has motherhood in its DNA. It began as an adoption fundraiser and continues championing adopting families through fundraising, but at the same time, we emphasize orphan prevention through job creation. What this means is ensuring that people - especially women - in vulnerable communities have access to dignified, safe, well-paying jobs so they can provide for their children. As a fair trade company, we believe in the power of business to eradicate poverty, and the power of handmade accessories to infuse story and connection into our everyday lives.

No matter what you pick out for the moms in your life, their Noonday pieces will be meaningful, and will come with a tag explaining the impact of this purchase. But let's dive into a few specific ideas to get your creativity flowing!

Order by May 1 for guaranteed Mother’s Day delivery.

1) Gifts for single moms

The first idea I have for you is our Eldorado Necklace ($78) and Earrings ($48) from Brazil, home to the only region in the world where the incredible golden grass, Capim Dourado, grows! Fabienne, the entrepreneur behind this group, has a passion for design, sustainability, and empowering single moms. All of this came together in her business, which focuses on sustainable harvesting of this special grass, and traditional weaving of it into crafts. I love how it has a bit of sparkle but also an earthy look, meaning it can be dressed up or down. Bonus: these pieces are super lightweight, making the earrings easy to wear for everyone, and the necklace is adjustable.

2) Gifts for traveling moms

Whether traveling for pleasure or for work, traveling moms love having a bit of special, handmade style on the road. Check out our assorted Huipil Luggage Tags ($20), made of recycled, handwoven fabric in Guatemala, and the useful and playful Postmark Jewelry Roll ($48), which doubles as a clutch for a night out. And of course, don’t forget about our summer travel capsule, which you can learn more about here!

3) Gifts for moms with grabby kids

If the mom on your list has taken a break from jewelry due to grabby children, you can troubleshoot that for her and help her reclaim her sense of style in creative ways! Stud earrings can pack a punch stylistically, such as the Trinity Studs ($38), Forestry Ear Climbers ($42), or Mod Marble Studs ($36). Shop our scarves for an accessory that can frame her face with a pop of color without worries of it getting yanked on. Or, spoil her with the Modern Leather Tote ($208), a great piece for the mom who is sick of the diaper bag but still needs the space to carry a lot of stuff.

4) Engravable gifts

Our Courage Necklace ($68) is made by formerly trafficked women in East Asia who are trained as artisans as well as in other vocational skills, while benefiting from therapy, health care, and more as they heal and move into flourishing. The rectangle piece can be engraved with children's initials. Same for the Droplet Necklaces - grab both the silver and the gold, which layer together nicely, and engrave initials for a personalized gift. The Droplet Necklaces are made by women in Ethiopia who have emerged from prostitution and into dignified work and a healing community. They're made of upcycled artillery, carrying the symbolism of restoration and redemption. (Note: engraving pieces will void the warranty.)

4) Gift cards

Okay, they can feel kinda boring, but sometimes a gift card is the best way to shop for mom when you aren't sure what she'll want. Although the deadline for guaranteed Mother's Day delivery is May 1, you can purchase a gift card for immediate email delivery after that date, so they’re perfect if you miss the shipping deadline. But, if you do purchase a gift card worth $50 or more by May 1, I'll send our catalog, along with a handwritten note from me, to the address of your choice. That way, she can still have something to open and enjoy on Mother's Day, and she can even pick out exactly what she wants to purchase with the gift card.

Make it personal

I’m here to give you personalized help in picking out the perfect gift - and conveying to the recipient how special it is. Just contact me with any questions, or to request that I write out for you a bit about what makes the pieces you selected so special. I would love to serve you in this way!
